About Me
Welcome! I'm a software engineer, data engineer, and former educator focused on building reliable systems, improving data integrity, and making complex information more useful and understandable.
My path into technology wasn't a traditional one. Before working professionally in software and data, I worked in education, teaching mathematics, computer science, engineering, and robotics. Those years taught me how to simplify complexity, communicate clearly, and build technology that reflects the people who use it. Whether I'm designing a data pipeline, developing a website, or helping someone bring an idea to life online, I'm most interested in creating tools that feel useful, approachable, and genuinely reflective of the people and organizations they're built for.
My work has crossed Education, FinTech, and Sustainability, giving me experience with very different kinds of data, users, and systems. In education, I've built technology around learning and accessibility; in FinTech, I worked with production financial data pipelines, data quality, and entity resolution; and in sustainability, I worked with enterprise data reconciliation, validation, and reporting workflows. Across each domain, the common thread has been making complex information more reliable, understandable, and useful.
I also use AI-assisted development as part of my workflow, from exploring approaches and debugging to testing, documentation, and code review, while keeping validation and engineering judgment at the center of the process.
Currently, I'm deepening my knowledge of data governance and AI/data systems, particularly how data quality, metadata, provenance, standards, and responsible governance affect the systems we build with AI. My interest in this area grew through my experience with production data pipelines, validation, reconciliation, and data quality, and I'm increasingly exploring how those practices apply to retrieval and AI-enabled systems.
I enjoy learning new tools and understanding how things work beneath the surface. Curiosity has taken me from classrooms to data engineering, frontend development, cloud technologies, accessibility, analytics, civic-tech, and AI-enabled projects. Each project becomes an opportunity to learn something new while creating something useful.
I hold a degree in Applied Mathematics from San Diego State University, contribute to Hack for LA, a nonprofit technology initiative, and am a member and former presenter with the Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA). My experiences have reinforced a simple belief: good technology should be dependable, understandable, trustworthy, and built with purpose.
When I'm not building software, you'll usually find me hiking Mission Trails, exploring new ideas, contributing to community-focused projects, or spending time with family.
